Sculpture Explorations/
Materials and Form

Sculpture Explorations/Materials and Form at TSA is an introduction to a broad range of approaches to object making. Through image presentations, demonstrations and hands-on work time in the studio, students will develop technical skills using both traditional and non-traditional materials. These materials include recycling material, plaster, wire, wood, found objects and more. Projects will introduce students to the elements of composition in three dimensions as well as the means by which a sculpture can communicate, such as through material, process, line, texture, mass and weight. Additional methods explored will include modeling, additive construction, planar construction, found-object assemblage and installation. An experimental approach to object-making and a sense of discovery are encouraged.
